Abstract

<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connecting rod capable of preventing reduction of service life of roller bearings as a result of a problem wherein the roller bearings used between the connecting rod and respective journals on a crank shaft easily receive variation of a stress distribution, and receive the instantaneous largest stress sometimes, in an internal combustion engine; and a method of manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: This method of manufacturing this connecting rod 10 includes: forming a substantially cylindrical rough bore at one end of the connecting rod 10; applying one of a compressive load and a tensile load to the connecting rod to at least partially deform the rough bore into a non-cylindrical shape; and machining the deformed rough bore into a substantially cylindrical shape (machined bore 30c, 30d) while the one of the compressive load and the tensile load is applied to the connecting rod. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
